Learning from the Ground - Public Talk with TAYYŪN

Date : 08/04/2025
Time : 18:30:00 - 21:00:00
Location: Khalifa Community Center

What if urbanization was a restorative act of the land, no longer synonymous with ecosystem destruction? What if our homes, neighborhoods, and cities were resilient, generous, and regenerative habitats for all life forms? What if our gardens and parks were havens of untouched nature, clean air, and wild fruits instead of a cosmetic afterthought? In this talk, TAYYŪN team discusses how we can bridge the growing disconnect between man-made landscapes and native ecologies and reveals our need for frameworks and practices that honor the land and its natural history and move from cross-species prejudices and marginalization to ecological integration.

About TAYYŪN

Established in 2018, TAYYŪN is a creative research and ecological design studio based in Amman, Jordan, founded and managed by Deema Assaf and Yaman Amr. It connects communities, organizations, businesses, and governments to innovative nature-based solutions. Their mission is to restore native biodiversity, empower local communities, and build resilience through their expertise in urban forestry, ecological design, regenerative agriculture, and grassroots biodiversity action.

This lecture is part of the Khalifa Heritage Greens project, led by Megawra and supported by international programs affiliated with the U.S. Forest Service. It is organized in collaboration with the Ecologies of Cities module as part of the BIAS-AME Diploma program.
