Stories from Space to Body, and Back - Performance Art Workshop

Stories from Space to Body, and Back invites participants to become cartographers of their own experience, mapping the emotional and narrative landscapes that exist within and between the places we call home, the streets we walk, and the spaces we dream about.

Our built environment is never neutral. Street corners resonate with stories; every threshold carries the memory of crossing over. Buildings, rooms, shops, and houses contain the remains of lives lived or dreamed—lives starting, unfolding, or ending. In Stories from Space to Body, and Back , we explore how bodies serve as archives of spatial memory and learn to share our findings orally and performatively.

Instructor

Chirine El Ansary is an accomplished storyteller, performance artist, and researcher, born in Cairo. She holds a PhD in Practice-as-Research and an MA in Performance Making from Goldsmiths, University of London, Department of Theatre and Performance. Chirine also studied theatre at the American University in Cairo and the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School in Paris. Her work delves into the fusion of words and movement to create immersive atmospheres, evoke deep emotions, and craft vivid imagery. Central to her performances is the exploration of how people interact with the spaces they occupy, as well as the delicate boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary, memory and imagination.
